I've written to the Author using the Form... let's see...
It has either died or it has been put on a back burner...
Four and a half months w/o an update it seem like its has gone the way of WinUha (http://www.klaimsoft.com/)... A half built none productive project with out updates.
The website has been messed with the beta 4 flag has been up for about three months with no evidence of showing any time soon...
Call me pessimistic but I have watched for 10 years and these projects show up then disappear just like that...
So what ever happens I doubt it will be around much longer....

That's my thought too :(
I've seen many other zip-like projects die and I'm afraid also jZip is gone...
A pity because it was a good program.
It seems the only ongoing (un)archiver project still in development is OpenSource (that's why, probably) "7-Zip"...

Now testing PeaZip, another free archiver... but this one is Open on SourceForge, so I hope won't suddenly die like the others.

In the words of monty phyton: "I'm not dead!"
:)
But seriously, don't bury us just yet.
No updates on the site doesn't mean we're out of business.
we've redesigned the jzip website, and we're constantly working on improving and fixing various bugs and features of the jzip application. hopefully there will be something for you guys to play with soon.
and last but not least, the forum is still active, so that's a good sign, right?

My guess is the Batch Jobs backup feature takes time to do and the wait will be worth it.

GREAT NEWS (ehm...), finally! :)
Please, don't let this project die: jZip is still the liter and best Win integrated (no wrappers for CLI cmds, working shell context menu etc.) freeware archiver!
Many others like IZArc, TugZip etc. swiftly disappeared... :(
In the worst case I hope everything can go into SourceForce at least! :D

I don't understand why they didn't fix the most annoying bugs at least... this would bridge the gap between current version and a new big release!

Yeah, total lack of support since April 2008... too much, really!
jZip is tiny, well integrated to the system but definitely needs a better support, at least a beta once a month IMHO or users will drop it in favour of other (un)archiviers.
It's always a frustrating pain when good programs fall in limbo like this.

In my opinion Jzip is almost perfect, it's one of the lightest compression apps around and the gui is very intuitive.
How can one not want to continue this wonderful utility? :D

That's why we're here... ;)
But it needs a more frequent update scheduling, not once a year! :(
